SAP EWM — Prepare a small warehouse example

Warehouse and bins
Use the warehouse number, receiving area and destination bins provided for your exercise. These are separate from the plant and storage location used in inventory management.
Product and delivery
You need a product with the required warehouse data and a suitable inbound delivery. Keep the quantity small and use assigned practice records.
Permitted process
Confirm the inbound scenario and whether your material expects embedded or decentralised EWM. A general EWM label does not establish every integration.

Example: put away 5 units

  1. Inspect the delivery

Check the product, expected quantity and goods-receipt status on your practice inbound delivery.

  2. Follow the receipt procedure

Post or inspect goods receipt at the point specified by the configured process. Its timing relative to putaway can vary.

  3. Create and confirm the warehouse task

Review the source, destination and quantity before confirming the permitted putaway movement.

  4. Find the stock

Check the destination bin and the delivery/task statuses using the supplied warehouse tools.

If something differs

No warehouse task is created

Check delivery status, product warehouse data and the relevant process settings before trying again.

Stock appears in the wrong view

Compare warehouse, bin, stock type and unit of measure. Inventory-management stock and warehouse-bin stock use different views.
