APPLE M-SERIES
Apple silicon Mac
For a MacBook, iMac or Mac mini with an Apple chip.
- ARM64 native package
- DMG · Java runtime included
SAP S/4HANA 2023 MAC SETUP
Choose the download for your Mac, add the server connection, then sign in with the SAP client number and credentials in your access email.
Keep your access email open. Use the SAP client assigned to you.
FOUR SIMPLE STEPS
The server connection and your SAP client are separate.
BEFORE YOU START
To use SAP GUI on a Mac, install SAP GUI for Java for your Apple silicon or Intel processor. Open SAP Logon and add a connection through New → Advanced → Expert Mode. Save the supplied server line with Expert Mode on, then connect and sign in with the SAP client, username and password from your access email.
SAP GUI for Java is the desktop application on your Mac; SAP Logon is its saved-connections window. Your SAP client is the number assigned in your access email. The SAP application and database run on the remote server.
SAP GUI for Java: install the Mac application and add the server connection using this walkthrough.
Web GUI or SAP Fiori: use the browser link supplied for your account. No SAP GUI installation is needed for that route; supported transactions and apps differ.

STEP 1 · DOWNLOAD
Both downloads include the Java runtime. Check About This Mac, then choose one of the two options below.
Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. If the Chip field names an Apple M-series chip, choose Apple silicon. If Processor says Intel, choose Intel. Note your macOS version too.
APPLE M-SERIES
For a MacBook, iMac or Mac mini with an Apple chip.
INTEL PROCESSOR
For a Mac whose processor is identified as Intel.
The shared folder contains SAP GUI for Java 8.10 revision 12, checked on 29 October 2026. Open the complete SAP GUI download folder if you need the package list or connection reference.
STEP 2 · INSTALL
Start the installed app from Applications. Installing SAP GUI does not activate or extend your SAP account.
Find the file in Downloads and double-click it. Copy the SAPGUI application to your Applications folder as shown in the disk image.
Open the copied SAPGUI application, rather than repeatedly opening it from the mounted disk image. The SAP Logon window is the starting point for your saved connections.
The native DMG includes the Java runtime needed for this installation. You can use this route without installing a separate JRE or JDK. The JAR files in the folder are an alternative installation route with separate Java prerequisites.
Before installing on an older macOS release, check compatibility against SAP Note 3485708: SAP GUI for Java 8.10 requirements or ask support with your macOS version. Processor compatibility alone does not establish operating-system compatibility.
Reference: SAP’s native macOS installation instructions.
STEP 3 · CONNECT TO THE SERVER
First connect to the server. You will enter your own SAP client number on the login screen in step 4.
CONNECT TO THE SERVER
Use this line for the SSA server shown in this guide. If your access email gives a different server or connection, follow your email.
conn=/H/196.218.200.67/S/3200&lang=EN
Your SAP client comes from your email. This line does not preset a client. Enter your assigned client on the SAP login screen.See what to enter at sign-in ↓
Keep Expert Mode selected when you save.
Click New. In Connection Properties, enter ERP Server Access – S/4HANA 2023 in the Description field.
Select the Advanced tab and tick Expert Mode. This enables the connection parameters field for a direct application-server connection.
Remove any existing text from the connection parameters field. Click Copy server connection, then paste with Command + V. Keep the full line, beginning with conn=. A line that wraps visually in this guide still copies as one line.
Leave Expert Mode ticked. Click OK or Save. Switching Expert Mode off after entering the line can replace your manual settings with values from the other fields.
Choose ERP Server Access – S/4HANA 2023 in the SAP Logon list and click Connect. The next screen should be the SAP sign-in screen.
The direct SSA route shown here uses no SAProuter. The System and Group/Server lists can stay unselected for this manually entered direct connection. Follow different server or router instructions if your access email supplies them.
Reference: SAP GUI for Java 8.10 connection setup. The server route shown here is specific to ERP Server Access; follow a different route if your access email supplies one. The host, port and client are separate values; a client number never replaces the port after /S/.
STEP 4 · SIGN IN TO YOUR SAP CLIENT
At the SAP login screen, fill in the fields shown here. Your client number, SAP username and SAP password come from your access email.
The Client field is a number. It identifies your assigned SAP client. It is separate from the server address, instance and port.
Login rejected? Check these details ↓| Login field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Client | The SAP client number in your access emailEnter it exactly, including any leading zeros. |
| User | Your SAP system username from the access email |
| Password | Your SAP system password from the access email |
| Language | EN for English, unless your instructions specify another language |
Check Client before you sign in. Replace any different value with the client assigned to you in your email. If the client number is missing, contact support rather than guessing.
The copied server connection does not choose a client for you. Confirm all four login fields, then sign in. Follow any initial-password change prompt shown by SAP.
Keep your access email available so you can distinguish your SAP credentials from your customer-portal login. An expired or not-yet-active account needs account support; reinstalling SAP GUI does not change its validity.
FIND THE POINT THAT NEEDS ATTENTION
Separate app installation, network connection, SAP login and exercise compatibility. Start with the issue you can see.
Choose the point where setup stops. Each answer gives you a specific next check.
Replace the entire parameters field with the supplied connection line. The text after /S/ must be the digits 3200, not the instance number 00. Check for spaces, quotation marks or extra line breaks. Keep Expert Mode selected when saving.
Go to Advanced → Expert Mode and enter the complete direct connection. You do not need to populate a message-server or logon-group list for this route. The SSA route in this guide uses no SAProuter.
Recheck the full connection line and your internet connection. Web GUI can work while a network blocks the desktop connection on TCP port 3200. If you manage the network, check whether this destination is permitted; otherwise ask the network administrator. Send support the complete error and whether Web GUI still works.
Check that the Client field matches the SAP client number in your access email, including any leading zeros. Use the SAP system username and password from that email, and confirm the account is active. Send support the exact error for a locked, expired or rejected account. Hide your password in any screenshot.
Record the complete macOS message. Confirm Apple silicon versus Intel, your macOS version and the downloaded package. Ask support to check compatibility before changing security settings. If you are still launching from the mounted DMG, open the copy in Applications instead.
Send the transaction code, the action you attempted and what appeared on screen. SAP GUI for Java and SAP GUI for Windows have different functional scopes, particularly for desktop integrations. Ask support to confirm the specific requirement for your exercise.
ERP SERVER ACCESS SUPPORT
Copy the checklist and fill it in before contacting support. For a connection issue, attach the Advanced tab with the connection line visible. Hide your password and unrelated private information.

MAC SETUP · YOUR QUESTIONS
Answers about the download, connection line, login and the difference between Mac and Windows clients.
Return to the exact connection steps ↑Yes. SAP GUI for Java is the desktop SAP client for macOS. Install the build that matches your Apple silicon or Intel processor, then connect using the details supplied for your SAP account.
Use the Apple silicon DMG linked in this guide. Its SAP package number is 80009301. The Intel package is 80009303. Choose using the processor-specific links rather than the folder’s 32/64 filename labels.
The native macOS DMG includes SAP’s Java runtime. A separate Java installation is not required for that route. The alternative JAR installation has different Java prerequisites.
Use the SAP client number in your access email. Enter it exactly, including any leading zeros. The copy button in this guide does not preset a client. If the Client field already contains another value, replace it with the one assigned to you. Ask support if you cannot find your client number.
Enter 3200 after /S/ for the SSA route shown here. The two-digit instance number is 00; the connection string needs its TCP port, 3200. Your SAP client is a separate login value supplied in your access email.
The direct SSA connection shown in this guide uses no SAProuter. Use the complete Expert Mode connection line. If support supplies different account-specific connection instructions, follow those instructions.
Web GUI and SAP GUI for Java use different connection routes. For this direct desktop connection, your network must allow the SAP server connection on TCP port 3200. Check the exact desktop connection line and send support the full error if the SAP login screen does not appear.
Use the SAP system username and password supplied for your active account. The portal account and SAP system account serve different purposes; follow the credentials labelled for SAP in your access email.
SAP GUI for Java has a different functional scope from SAP GUI for Windows. Check the exact transaction, desktop integration or development task your exercise needs. Ask support about that requirement before relying on a particular feature.
Check your exact macOS version against SAP Note 3485708, the requirements reference for SAP GUI for Java 8.10. Choosing the correct Apple silicon or Intel package does not by itself confirm macOS compatibility. If you cannot access the note, send support your macOS version and processor before installing.
Yes, if your assigned SAP system provides Web GUI or SAP Fiori access for your required task. Open the browser URL in your access email and use your assigned SAP client and credentials. Browser access and SAP GUI for Java have different capabilities; check the transaction or app your exercise requires.
Installing the application does not create, activate, renew or extend a SAP account. Your subscription or demo must be active when you sign in.
Open SAP Logon, choose New, enter a description, then open Advanced and select Expert Mode. Replace the complete connection parameters field with the server line supplied for your account. Keep Expert Mode selected when saving. Select the saved connection and click Connect, then enter the SAP client and credentials from your access email.
Saving adds the connection to the SAP Logon list. Select it and click Connect to open the SAP login screen. If no login screen appears, check the complete server line and network route. If the login screen appears but access is rejected, check your emailed SAP client, username, password and account validity.
SAP REFERENCES · CHECKED 29 OCTOBER 2026
Current SAP documentation supports the installation and Expert Mode workflow. The earlier Community guide remains available for its historical screenshots. The checks cover the documented setup workflow; support confirms account-specific connection details.
Use this guide’s version-specific downloads and current connection values rather than the older installer examples. An individual Mac’s successful login still needs to be confirmed on that device.
YOUR NEXT STEP
Keep your access email ready and follow the exact steps for your assigned system.
