Stock transport orders — Identify the transfer before checking FI

Plants and company codes
Record the supplying and receiving plant and whether they belong to the same company code.
Process variant
Check whether the transfer uses an outbound delivery, one or two movement steps, and intercompany billing.
Valuation and dates
Use the material’s relevant valuation data, quantities, currency and posting dates when comparing the financial result.

Example: trace 10 units between two plants

  1. Read the STO

Check the supplying plant, receiving plant, material and ordered quantity.

  2. Follow goods issue

Inspect the material document, stock-in-transit effect and accounting reference where generated.

  3. Follow goods receipt

Check the received quantity and remaining transit stock. Inspect whether this step creates a financial document in this process.

  4. Review intercompany documents if applicable

For a configured cross-company process, trace the related billing and invoice documents without assuming they exist for a same-company transfer.

If something differs

You expected an accounting document at receipt

Check the transfer variant and valuation. Some same-company processes record the financial movement at goods issue.

Transit stock remains

Compare issued and received quantities and check whether a receipt or reversal is still outstanding.
